lyrics
I didn't come here to make friends but I have no choice
I was getting so tired of being one of the boys
and when I got drunk I lost all of my poise
I'm so sorry for the all american noise
and I was thinking of things I'd do if I had the time
until my fingers smelled like pussy and rookie strikes
why don't you call me when the crush subsides
cause you know I can't resist making an old man smile
and no I can't come down it feels so good
I didn't even want to while I could
I'm a mile high
I'm a mile high with you tonight
and my hearts breaking faster than my will not to call you
cause when you said that you wanted me you thought i was true
oh and I just wanna belong to you
well better lie down there split my body in too
and no I can't come down god it feels so good
I didn't even want to while I still could
I'm a mile high
I'm a mile high with you tonight
and I don't wanna die I wanna just see the look on your face
when I jump I wanna hear all the sounds you'd make
oh can I have one taste of every breath that you take
I can't sleep I've been climbing the walls all day
tryna think about that perfect place
we could still by on a piece of eight
you know what I mean babe
no one would ever try to keep me away from the gate away
cause I'd be a mile high
I'd be a mile high with you tonight
can we be a mile high
meet me a mile high again
The Ohio songwriter navigates gender, queerness, class, and privilege through a powerful mix of country rock, folk ballads, and bluegrass. Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 14, 2021
There's only one track on this whole album I don't adore. The other nine would be my favorite track on almost any other album they stumbled into. "Years" is like the perfect Best Of album for a band that's been steadily putting out records for decades.
'Caroline Reese and the Drifting Fifth' level stuff here. burrito741
